Testimonio

My name is Brianna Perez, and I'm currently pursuing a degree in hospitality management at UCF's Rosen College. Upon entering ENC 1101 this summer, I had held the hope that this course would help me strengthen my writing skills and overall improve my fluency as a writer. As the course progressed, I also found myself utilizing the coursework to progress in my ability to self-start as well as to help build my confidence in expressing my ideas in written form. Despite the brief nature of this class, it absolutely provided me with multiple opportunities to practice writing authentic pieces and refine various aspects within my writing process.

Over the course of the semester, completing the three essays, responding to several discussion posts, and reflecting after each major assignment kept me from remaining stagnant in my progress and exposed me to a wide array of different writing prompts. Whether it was a quick response to a fellow peer or a six-page paper, each assignment demonstrated the importance of clear, effective communication as well as adaptability when composing a written piece.

This class has provided a strong foundation that I will hopefully continue to build upon next semester when taking my next English course. Furthermore, I have no doubt that the skills I have strengthened throughout this course will help me in my future career endeavors, as writing is an essential communication tool within the workplace. Lastly, as someone specifically interested in hospitality, I am grateful for the chance to work on my writing ability as hospitality is all about connecting with one another, and writing effectively is another way in which I can do that.
